Get It Together
Get Your Credit Together, a division of Get It Together, began as a conversation between co-founders Shay Prosser and Hallie Hawkins in 2007. (The website of Get It Together Workshops, LLC is http://www.get-it-together-today.com/)
As they watched the world rapidly change from the perspectives of a lawyer and a financial advisor they realized there is a great need for independent education. Understanding credit scores and managing debt has also become critical.
Though almost everyone needs some sort of legal and financial education, there are few places that you can get that education other than from those that are trying to sell you a product. At Get It Together you buy our education with no sales pitches.
All workbooks, workshops and resource guides are written exclusively by Hallie and Shay.

Expertise
Hallie is a trained lawyer and Shay is a former financial advisor. Both have also been licensed insurance agents as well. They use their broad range of experience to instruct others so that people can become educated confident in their short term, mid term and long term planning with regard to legal and financial issues. In order to focus solely on education, neither Hallie nor Shay has a legal or financial practice.
Enthusiasm and Education
Hallie and Shay address two main themes. First, each person has the ability to control their financial and legal destiny if they have the right knowledge. Second, financial and legal planning issues are intertwined and must be addressed together. This includes credit score education and improvement. They are both passionate about independent education. At the core of independent education is that it is completely separate from sale of financial products or legal services.

The growth of the consumer credit has been explosive. Individual credit files continue to grow, and are used for purposes beyond the issuance of credit. People cannot afford to overlook the information being reported about them by the credit agencies.
Certified Credit Report Reviewers (CCRRs®) have learned Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA). They have learned how to read and understand credit reports and maintain or increase credit scores, which often results in lower credit costs. They have also learned about the steps to take to guard against credit and identity theft, a growing consumer problem.

My passion for financial planning began about the time I began making money, maybe a little before.
What began as hobby managing my own future, designing endless spreadsheets and having thought provoking conversations with my father, grew into a passion for knowledge and education.
As a young single person working at a software company, I began saving for retirement. I knew why I was saving, but wanted to know more about how best to save and how to plan. So I began reading everything I could get my hands on – books, magazines, online articles and calculators, you name it.
In 2006, I decided to turn a passion into a career and joined a major brokerage house to become a financial advisor. I passed the tests, learned the ropes and absorbed everything I could from the senior advisors around me. I had also just embarked on a new personal adventure by getting married, and was determined to guide my husband and I through the financial maze. I moved from one brokerage house to another, trying to build my career around educating the people that need it most.
As my career progressed, so did our family, first another golden retriever, and then a beautiful baby girl. The complexity of my own financial and legal situation increased the minute she came into this world. I realized that the path to legal and financial security took some navigating, even with everything I knew. As more and more friends came to me for advice on how to secure their own futures, I began to realize there was a greater need. A
well timed e-mail from Hallie about financial planning and marriage
sparked a conversation and several months of conversations later, Get
It Together was born.

My journey through my career could be considered a long varied road but in reality I have come back to where I started.
In high school, I worked in a business that presented seminars to educators for graduate credit. I was in and around trainers and the process of running seminars.
After a liberal arts college education, I was hired in a really tough job market. I began working in the Mortgage Industry. One of the key pieces of information that I did learn was you needed to have a down payment, closing costs and good credit to get a mortgage.
I moved to Florida and learned about Health Insurance, Life Insurance and took the NASD Series 7 exam. Next was law school and a daughter all at once. Following school, I practiced law for a while and then made a move to beautiful Washington State and took a job as a paralegal. During my law career, I had the great experience of working on broad legal issues ranging from Estate Planning, Real Estate Closings, Debt Consolidation and many complex issues.
The final move was to Charlotte, where I worked for a large corporation in Charlotte managing people and bringing me back to my mortgage “roots”. I have experienced “downsizing” (what a nice word for such a difficult time) and have started my own business.
I became an entrepreneur and started my own business. While running my first business. I had the opportunity to form a wonderful partnership with Shay.
See the long and winding road...The great thing is that now I am able to use my experience to give seminars on a range of topics in the legal and financial fields.
The places where i have lived are a piece of that road. I was born in Cazenovia, a small Upstate NY town. Went to college in New Jersey, I could take the train into Manhattan. I lived at the Jersey Shore, as well. I met my husband and moved to Florida. We then moved to Whidbey Island, WA, the most beautiful place in the world for 5 years. Finally. we moved "back east" to Charlotte. I am married with 2 almost grown daughters. One is in college and one is on her way next year.
